Focus groups, surveys and Downton Abbey
I helped with a focus group based around the popular channel four drama ‘Misfits’. we found that the target audience is 16-35 year olds. males and females. what was interesting about the focus group is that they related it alot the another channel four drama ‘Skins’. ‘Skins’ has the same target audience as ‘Misfits’. they were saying that it is ‘grimy’ and ‘urban’ version of skins. One person said its what you would get if you put ‘Skins’ and ‘Heroes’ into a blender you would get misfits. ‘Heroes’ is an american dram based around people with super powers.
Downton Abbey is harder to find out about. How ever after several surveys i discovered that Downton Abbey has a target audience of 35-50 year olds. professional and management, mainly females. People that watch Downton Abbey also watch other period dramas such as Larkrise to Candleford.
